Im pretty sure I just overheard a girl who plans to vote for Trump say, "Trump's been president for 4 years and nothing happened....."
Girl... you do know that it takes a few YEARS for us to see the effects of policies put into place by a president like...
Trump started removing policies that helped guarantee consumer and worker safety, and we JUST NOW felt the effects through the listeria outbreak.
PLEASE DO SOME RESEARCH PLEASE.
I'm fucking terrified. We either get one of the biggest acts of domestic terrorism to date, or we get 4 years of what could become a tyrannical dictatorship, which removes ALL OF THE RIGHTS WE FOUGHT HARD TO GET!
#im afraid for the queers#im especially afraid for the non-whites like... I'm worried Trump might deport NATURAL BORN CITIZENS WHO HAVE BEEN HERE FOR GENERATIONS#SIMPLY BC THEY AREN'T WHITE#will the queers be rounded up and shipped off to conversion camps?#idk#i dont want to know#all our civil rights are at stake#please vote#please vote blue#vote blue#vote democrat#vote harris#vote kamala#vote#go vote#america#us politics#im not the only person who is scared shitless of tomorrow... right?#i fought so hard to be where i am now#and project 2025 would see all that stripped away from me and many other women#will i be forced to marry and bear someone's child? IDK#I DO NOT WANT TO FIND OUT#please

I know we all kind of assume Anthy and Akio are Indian because of the brown skin and bindis (Google tells me that while it's less common, men do wear bindis sometimes), and I agree, but also. "Dios" is Spanish, "Anthy" is derived from a Greek word, "Himemiya" is Japanese (I would theorize that her name hasn't always been "Himemiya", though she does seem to have had the name "Anthy" as far back as we're allowed to see into her past), and Akio drives an American car and plays jazz (a style of music that developed in America) over the radio in said car. Also, despite bindis being a Hindu, Jain and Buddhist thing, all the religious shit the two of them have going on (the martyrdom, Akio drawing a comparison between himself and Satan, Ohtori looking like a fucked up Cathedral and Dios appearing to Utena in a church) is Pretty Christian.
I know all of this is probably just a product of the writers not having a concrete idea of where they wanted Akio and Anthy to be from other than "not here" but it implies a lot of travel, which does kind of fit with Dios' whole "trying to rescue Every Girl Ever" thing.
Where do their names come from, anyway? "Dios" sounds like it could have been a name given to him by the people he saved. We never hear hide nor hair of their parents, they're fully irrelevant even by the farthest flashback.
#revolutionary girl utena#anthy himemiya#akio ohtori#shoujo kakumei utena#himemiya anthy#ohtori akio#rgu#sku#if i had to guess#i'd say they were born in india and spent their REALLY early lives there#and then started travelling#i think they've been to europe- maybe italy given anthy's weird obscure knowledge about Cantarella#also if they were the ones who BUILT ohtori (which seems likely given their influence over it)#then i would think they went to France at some point because HOLY ROCOCO BATMAN#and america. akio probably got The Car there.#and then eventually set up shop in Japan for. Reasons.#I don't know what the in-universe reasons could possibly be honestly but there they are#honestly i don't think they adhere to any religion besides the one they're living out.

non-voters, third-party voters, this is what you wanted. I sincerely hope you carry shame about what you've done for the rest of your days.

I am shaking with fucking rage listening to this state of the union i think maybe two other faces have made me instantly get this angry.
I am not your "fellow American." I refuse to be American if this is what it means to be American. I am human before I am an American.
I refuse to die before I see a free Palestine. I will see a free Palestine in my lifetime. I refuse to die before I can see a free world. I will see everyone free in my lifetime because I refuse to die without seeing it. It's probably impossible but I don't care because I have to see it. I'm sick of seeing anything else.

I somehow found myself looking at pictures from the two Cup races at Road America the other night, and I'm still fucking fuming over the world-class screwjob NASCAR gave the track and the fans. This is what they threw away:
one of the most prestigious tracks in the world
drew over 100k people for each Cup race
the fan experience is second-to-none
it's in Wisconsin, probably second only to North Carolina when it comes to stock car racing but somehow snubbed by the Cup series for nearly 70 years, despite producing game-changing, legendary racers from to Dick Trickle and Dave Marcis to Alan Kulwicki and Matt Kenseth; and being crucial to the careers of guys like Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace
it's affordable ($140 for the weekend pass in 2022, kids under 16 get in free, all kinds of camping and accommodations allowed, free parking, outside food allowed), especially when compared to the Chicago street race it was dumped for (GA starts at $269…)
it was likely the only time my broke, disabled ass could have afforded to go to a race
it's beautiful
and the drivers loved it:
"I miss going to Road America. That's a beautiful area. A track with a lot of history. The fans were always great there as well. So yes, I do miss going there." - Kyle Larson
"I love Road America. The fans there are awesome, they really, really love racing in general, and it's super deserving of a Cup date, I think. It's a beautiful track, a massive racetrack that always puts on a really good show. I look forward to going there again... because the track is so great and the people up there love racing." - Ryan Blaney
"Road America is a great track. The fan turnout last year was amazing. It’s a huge track and there were people all over the place, so it really had a great atmosphere. I’m looking forward to going back this weekend. " - Denny Hamlin
“I was super nervous leaving Daytona for our July 4th race, for NASCAR that's been a tradition that's been in place for many years... I had a lot of emotional ties to that [race]… Man, we came up here last year and I was blown away, I really was. The people are nice, it's a beautiful area, people are outside and enjoying the racetrack, and I felt like they couldn't have received us better, trying to start a new tradition somewhere. … I feel like it's been a really nice fit for us and the people around here have accepted us with open arms.” - Chase Elliott
"What better place than Road America? I love the fans. I love this racetrack. Being here on 4th of July weekend is just so special." - Tyler Reddick
“I think this is a special racetrack to any racer, you know, you hear guys like Mario Andretti talk about it being the most complete racetrack in the world. The fans that come out to this place… it’s such a great atmosphere, such a great family atmosphere. It makes you wanna do it even more, as a driver.” - Austin Cindric
“Road America has always been one of my favorite racetracks in anything I’ve driven over my career there. … I love the crowd there, the Wisconsin race fans, they pack that place in.” - AJ Allmendinger
“Road America, I can’t say it enough–it’s such a nice facility. It’s like you go to a state park and there’s a racetrack there, it’s so beautiful. The fans are always awesome every time we go, and from a racetrack standpoint I think it’s really one of the best road courses in the country in my opinion. It just has so many different elements… It really has everything you look for in a road course.” - Chase Briscoe
“I think more than anything that the fans in Wisconsin deserve a race up there, and they come out in droves. It’s a fun atmosphere in that area.” - Austin Dillon
“Clearly the fans were hungry for this kind of race. It’s a great weekend to have it. Being Independence weekend, it feels like we might’ve found a new home for Fourth of July.” - Brad Keselowski
“Road America was amazing and I’m missing that.” - Alex Bowman
"Road America is arguably one of the most beautiful race tracks we go to, as well as one of the biggest fan bases we go to, one of the most passionate fan bases we go to, just a great facility.” - Justin Allgaier
“You know, I really enjoyed going up to Road America. I think the fan support of that race in general was incredible and I’m excited that we get to go back this year.” - Martin Truex Jr.
“It’s been amazing. I think the first time by I used a few expletives describing just how awesome the experience was coming around at speed. … This track has been on my wishlist since I was a young kid watching racing, and to finally be here is really special.” - Jimmie Johnson
"I’ve never heard a bad thing about Road America. You hear so many great stories about people racing here and doing things here and how great the race track was." - Kevin Harvick
“From a driver's perspective, there's not a racetrack we go to that's more fun.” - Regan Smith
"It was fun. I really enjoyed Road America and just the whole challenge of running here ... I really enjoyed coming up here today and the Wisconsin people were great. … The fans here were just ecstatic that the Cup Series was here. It was a lot of fun." - Kurt Busch
Even Dale Jr.
“Daytona Beach was the tradition for July 4th. … You know me, man, I hate changes in NASCAR. … I’ll be honest, man. [Road America] was awesome. It really was. It was awesome! … We rode around [the track] in a rental car… and that’s when you can really pick up on just how many people are there, how much camping is there, this place is beautiful. You would go and enjoy that experience even if there wasn’t a racetrack! … So I’m sold, man. Road America was – I was a bit taken aback by it. … That part of the country, they are passionate about motorsports. I was impressed. I think it’s a great place, sign a ten year agreement. Let’s go.” – Dale Earnhardt Jr.
#don't mind me i'm just angry forever but no one irl cares lmao#i was born into loving this sport and i have never been able to go to a fucking cup race#the two years they were here i didn't have a car and no one wanted to go with me#i finally had a car again at the end of 2022 and this was literally the first thing i thought about#i actually cried when they announced the 2023 schedule#i don't have a problem with the street race in chicago#i just want road america back idc what time of year#why does nascar make it so hard to be a fan#there's gonna be 3 indycar races in wisconsin next year and their season is like 4 months shorter than nascar's#nascar#wisconsin

Everyone talking about adopting Palestinian kids needs to read Scott Carney’s The Red Market and a brief definition of genocide outside of the physical destruction of lives.
#ra speaks#personal#adoption#palestine#the red market#it’s been years since I read that book#but the sections about the trafficked kids has always stuck with me#about the family who had their son stolen. who tracked him down in America. who asked the family to see him#not to take him home not to be a part of his life but simply to speak with a now young teenager#and tell him how much they loved him and missed him and were happy he was safe#only for the family to deny them.#like Jesus fucking Christ man that shit has fucked me up#idk maybe it’s just cause my countin died recently#and she was adopted and her graduate psychology work was with adopted kids because she was passionate#about the flaws and dangers of the system she grew up in#but every person who talks about saving the children when they mean taking them away from everything and everyone they’ve ever known#it makes my skin crawl#we should be putting effort into keeping track of families. of finding family friends and connections for these kids.#not throwing them into a new country full of racists who will give them shit for where they were born no matter how American they’re raised

If you’re shaming someone for voting for Harris because they’re hurting Palestine, please explain your logic. Should we have voted for trump, who wants to give Israel more weapons? Who is actively working to end this pitiful excuse of a ceasefire? Should we vote for trump and hurt all the marginalized groups in America? Should we vote against abortion rights and trans rights and food regulation?
Harris isn’t great for Palestine but i have two options and she’s the lesser of two evils. Third party candidates are a joke in America. It’s not going to happen anytime soon. Shaming people for making the only choice they can leads to non voters which leads to a trump win which leads to a lot more death, both in and out of Palestine.
Sincerely, we’re trying our best so fuck off.
#I’m so done rn#us politics#vent post#sorry just seeing so much voter shaming and it’s like#what should I have done#voted for trump?#not been born in America?#I’m reblogging posts and helping people apply for verifications and signing petitions and voting#and doing what I can#fuck offffffff

”It’s inherently immoral and bad to be a white person in a colonist country” WELL DAMN I DIDN’T ASK TO BE BORN BUT OKAY THEN.
(As a disclaimer in case this post gets derailed, I am NOT talking about giving natives their land back. I wholeheartedly support that and I think they deserve it. This is about a weird and stupid thing I saw on this Webbed Site that proposed we get rid of white people in the US entirely.)
#It’s inherently classist to think that people can just up and fucking leave to live in a different country because you say so.#Obviously colonialism is bad but my sibling in Christ#It already happened. White people live there now and trying to “fix it” would leave millions of people hungry and homeless.#Now the only thing we can do is try to make a better community for everyone (natives and foreigners alike) instead of pushing people out#It is not immoral to live in a place and be from a certain group. You didn’t choose to be born there and neither did your parents.#There’s also white immigrants you have to take into account. Would you like to displace them as well?#I’ve seen this sentiment floating around on Tumblr and let me just say that it’s the most braindead bullshit I’ve ever heard.#only on tumblr#ffs actually think about the logistics and ethics of what you’re planning to do before you open your damn mouth.#Colonialism is bad and evil and I obviously think reparations are in order (And they have been for a LONG DAMN TIME)#But demonizing millions of (mostly working class) people and leaving them all homeless and countryless is a Terrible Fucking Idea#This is prime Tumblr social justice where someone takes a pretty popular sentiment and spins it into something completely batshit crazy#Social justice#Colonialism#usa#united states#america

my absolutely biggest online pet peeve is US centric people projecting their rich sorority girl bully stereotype of nurses onto everyone else, as if nurses aren't working class and mostly immigrants of colour everywhere else. and when did it become cool to hate on underpaid and exploited workers anyway
#*when i say ''everywhere else'' i mean sweden specifically. idk what it's like in other countries#anyway it bothers me to no end#most of my coworkers are 1. very nice and 2. quite poor and part of many oppressed classes and groups#a vast majority of them are either single mothers who have immigrated from the middle east or africa#or young afghan men who came here in 2015-2021 during the refugee wave#on many shifts ive been 1. the only nurse born in sweden and 2. the only female nurse#your experiences are not universal#the way the internet talks about nurses bothers me to no end! not every nurse makes insane dollars a year and is blonde and married to a cop#i googled this once and american nurses on average make 2x or even nearly 4x of what i made at my previous job. depending on state#enough ppl in the ward i worked at were muslim that we celebrated ramadan all of us basically. not exactly but it did affect the schedule#many of my coworkers could barely afford clothes for all their kids and we all worked crazy hours and kept getting overworked and burnt out#i hate the american stereotype!!!!!#''nurses are mostly high school bullies who like being in control of and hurting vulnerable people'' no! that isn’t true! it just isn’t!#lots of bad healthcare isnt bc the workers are sadists.its bc the resources from the government are lacking and the workers are understaffed#like#we know when the care isn’t good. and it feels Bad actually to not be able to do it better#lots ppl change professions bc of the ethical stress. it's not fun. and sometimes it's obvious a patient feels like theyre not getting heard#but you don't have the time to sit down and listen or whatever else. there isn't time or resources for it#and a lot of crucial vital conditions/symptoms sometimes get missed bc of lack of resources and competence quitting#it's not bc nurses are evil and want ppl to die and suffer. i feel like this has got to be some kind of propaganda circulating#it's such a bizarre stereotype when you think about it. and it's just not true to reality. idk#anyway what do i know. maybe they are actually evil in america. it's possible. a lot of bizarre things are true in america#i just hate the narrative online#pickapost

So I'm really into genealogy and have been for a few years now and I'm blessed with being really good with names and dates etc. So in conversation I can remember like a ridiculous amount of:
Jane Doe Smith Johnson
b. 1805 Tennessee d. 1879 Missouri
Married 1828 to John Patrick Johnson. Had five children. Died of TB
Etc etc
And that's cool enough apparently but I've mostly been using it for
A. Making up bullshit but real sounding names for stuff (i.e my name is Emily Stewart, Grace Kolár, etc). The point is that they're normal sounding and varied.
B. Having a bizarre frame of reference for historical events. Like "oh [small town],[state] 1942 had [random] event happen? My 1st cousin 4x removed got married there that year, small world!"
It's so dumb, like I'll read about some historical event from my area (where I've had family in the vicinity of since the 1840s) and I'll link up the time frame in my head and be like hmm... I wonder what 3rd great aunt Helen thought about that happening next door to her church.
#anyways im haunted by my ansesters and their lives#and driven actually crazy when i hit a dead end until ive solved it#like if i dont figure out credibly who my 3rd great grandfather's parents are soon im genuinely going to lose touch I'm serious.#i realized the other day that id been 'investigateing' it since Jan 2021 DO YOU KNOW HOW DIFFERENT MY LIFE IS COMPARED TO THEN?!#and I'm not like casual.. I am multiple times a week searching the LoC as well as physical genealogical libraries for records#it lives in my brain like a tumor#he was born in 1857 in 'western' America this isn't fog of shit#its goddanm out there!#part of the obsession is because this particular ancestor is where my surname came from#he's my paternal paternal paternal grandfather.. yea... I'm just like curious as to specifically where my surname originated#sometimes especially on my mom's side I can track this shit down to a specific small european towns and I can find neat historical stuff#but this guy is just a fucking mystery#he appears in Oklahoma in the 1870s has like 15 children and then offs himself after losing money gambling#oh my god im actually ranting#and I guess it bugs me more than others because he has a very prominent newspaper trail#there are tons and tons of mentions of this guy#he has a long ass obituary but nobody ever fucking mentions where he came from other than like vague ass statements#his obituaries literally contradict each other too#I have searched everywhere for any misspelling of this guy's name#but his name is very easy to spell it's freaking William and the last name is very easy as well its a third person singular verb#ugh#anyways#ive cooled off#geneology#is interesting as fuck honestly
